Israel Pounds Gaza City After Offensive Gets Green Light

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a heavy bombardment on Gaza City and its outskirts overnight, after receiving approval for an expanded military offensive known as Operation Gideon’s Chariots II, aimed at dismantling Hamas’s remaining stronghold.

The operation involves the mobilization of approximately 60,000 reservists, escalating Israel’s military presence around Gaza City. Additional troops are expected to join soon.
IDF officials revealed that ground units are already positioned around the city’s edges, marking the preliminary phase of the assault.
The offensive has triggered widespread displacement, particularly in neighborhoods like Sabra and Tuffah, where civilians fled amid intensified shelling.

UN agencies and aid organizations warn of catastrophic humanitarian consequences, with mounting malnutrition, lack of safe shelter, and little access to food or medical aid, especially for children.

Despite truce talks facilitated by Egypt and Qatar, Israel has emphasized it will only consider ceasefire proposals after achieving complete military objectives and securing all hostages.
